IL Gov. J.B. Pritzker Mentions Aunt Martha’s Children’s Quarantine Center (CQC) in Press Briefing

Aunt Martha’s exciting work in our care for DCFS youth impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic was mentioned by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker in his daily press briefing on Thursday, April 9. Aunt Martha’s is developing a Children’s Quarantine Center (CQC) that will enable youth to quarantine in a safe environment with the infectious disease control protections of a health care facility within a home-like setting.

At the CQC, Aunt Martha’s team of dedicated child welfare and health care professionals will care for the youth until they have completed their COVID-19 quarantine and can safely return to their prior placement.  The facility is scheduled to officially open before the end of the month.

The CQC is an exciting initiative for Aunt Martha’s.  It will be, to our knowledge, the first program of its kind to be designed specifically for youth in out-of-home-care.  Once complete, the CQC will have the capacity to serve up to eight youth who have been exposed to or tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
