Aunt Martha&#8217;s fue una de las primeras organizaciones de los suburbios del sur que ofrec\u00eda estos servicios, a menudo considerados controvertidos en aquella \u00e9poca. En 1981, recibimos una subvenci\u00f3n del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos para ampliar la programaci\u00f3n entre los padres adolescentes y las adolescentes embarazadas de la zona, ofreciendo m\u00e1s servicios m\u00e9dicos, un \u00abprograma de paraca\u00eddas\u00bb e incorporando un servicio de adopci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Atenci\u00f3n residencial para adolescentes embarazadas y con hijos<\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mientras desarrollaban estos servicios de planificaci\u00f3n familiar y atenci\u00f3n sanitaria, el personal y los voluntarios de Aunt Martha&#8217;s detectaron otra carencia en la regi\u00f3n: la necesidad de un hogar de grupo para albergar a mujeres j\u00f3venes. Este internado de larga duraci\u00f3n atend\u00eda a mujeres j\u00f3venes de entre 12 y 18 a\u00f1os que formaban parte de los programas de Aunt Marthao recib\u00edan una derivaci\u00f3n directa, y estaba dirigido por defensores residentes voluntarios formados de la comunidad circundante. Estas defensoras trabajaban a diario con las j\u00f3venes, asesor\u00e1ndolas sobre los problemas de sus vidas, sus familias y sus escuelas, y prepar\u00e1ndolas para la edad adulta y, juntas, para
