In the United States, there are currently more than 400,000 children living in foster care. Aunt Martha’s is striving to provide support and comfort to these kids during a difficult time by training and supporting foster families, and encouraging family engagement for youth in care. Today, Aunt Martha’s received a helping hand from mattress retailer Mattress Firm and the Ticket to Dream Foundation with a $75,000 donation to support foster kids.
“The work our employees do to nurture the children in our wellness centers, and to train and continuously support the families who open their hearts and their homes to foster children, is part of a legacy that goes back more than 40 years at Aunt Martha’s,” said Jim Caporusso, the agency’s Director of Corporate Relations and Development.
“It’s work that no organization can do on its own. That’s why the partnership and support of Mattress Firm and the Ticket to Dream Foundation are so important and so much appreciated.”
According to Caporusso, Aunt Martha’s foster care program will use the funds to recruit and support licensed foster homes. The agency will allocate a portion of the funds to efforts to engage the parents and families of children and youth in its wellness centers, fostering improved relationships and moving them toward reunification.
