Book Donation

Children from Crete Elementary School participated in a Scholastic Reading contest.  Students, together with their teachers, wrote what they would do with a book donation.  The winning schools were awarded books for their school and for area non-profits.  Crete Elementary School students chose to donate books to Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center!  In total, about 750 books were donated through this program.

This donation coincided with the April 2008 quarterly Drive Through / Drop Off which collects various items for the young parents in our programs.  Special thanks to Crete Elementary School and the community for their generosity in helping our children get books!   Thank you Crete Elementary!

9th Annual Poker Run

Danville Firefighters along with The Friendly Tavern held their 9th annual Poker Run on Saturday July 7, 2007. As temperatures outside soared to 90° – more than four hundred motorcyclists from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana rode 140 miles to complete their poker hands. Finishing back at the Friendly, everyone enjoyed food, live music and the opportunity to win raffle prizes.

Aunt Martha's Youth Service Center and the Danville Fire Department families provided 50 volunteers to assist with registration, raffles, food and to answer questions.  Many individuals and families helped make this event successful.  We thank them all!

Event proceeds will assist the Vermilion Area Community Health Center in serving patients in that area.
